Jo Haberstok is a quality champion, creative and technical writer, and communications consultant. She currently works for EnRep, Inc., in Richland, Washington, as a Senior Operations Specialist. Her primary work scope at this time is technical writing and editing; she provides support to a large surveillance and maintenance organization with the Decontamination & Decommissioning project. This includes working with managers, engineers and other personnel to prepare and update technical and administrative procedures, reports, and other documentation.

Jo has published articles with the American Society for Quality (and formerly the Association for Quality & Participation), the National Management Association, and the Tri-Cities Business Journal. She has also presented educational and poster sessions at national conferences. Most of her focus to date has been in the areas of communications, quality and training. A case study prepared by Jo and two work colleagues was published in Donald Kirkpatrick's book Evaluating Training Effectiveness in 1998.

Her background/experience also includes designing tools for and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and materials, instructional personnel; and organizational culture and processes; researching, developing and implementing quality, and establishing communications and recognition programs. She has designed and edited newsletters for non-profit organizations and has researched and written business and human-interest articles for local newspapers.

For over 14 years, Jo has served as both a preliminary and final round judge for ASQ's International Team Excellence Awards program, and in the past she also served as an examiner for the Washington State Quality Award program. In 2007, she also served as a judge for the Education Team Excellence Awards program.

Jo was honored in 1996 at the national conference of the Association for Quality & Participation with the prestigious Judy Gibson Award, for her many volunteer efforts as a quality champion at the local, regional and national levels.

Born and raised in Walla Walla, Washington (Go, Wa-Hi Blue Devils!), Jo later moved to the "big city" and has resided and worked in the Tri-Cities for several years. She worked in the restaurant, retail and banking fields prior to her Hanford career. She has a bachelor's degree in Communications, and has held certifications as both a Vocational Instructor and Asbestos Worker in the past.

Hobbies include photography, reading (especially mysteries), writing, dancing, gardening, and singing. In 1993, Jo performed at the national AQP conference in New Orleans as part of a musical trio known as the Quality Bees.

Jo also enjoys modeling - for fun and fundraisers! The posted picture was taken during the 2008 Fashion Show fundraiser for the local chapter of the Mid-Columbia Leadership Development Association (MCLDA, aka the National Management Association [NMA]).
